Journals

I took a sculpture class when I was at CU Boulder where the professor made us keep visual journals in an 11 × 14, black, Canson sketchbook. She said we could draw, paint, collage or do whatever the hell we wanted as long as we did something every single day. Her lesson was that as artists we needed a safe place to experiment and to dedicate ourselves to archiving our observations and curiosity. I fell in love with this practice and have kept it up my entire life. Here are a handful of selections from over the years.
